Where The Sidewalk Ends

By Shel Silverstein

This month we’re reading a book for the family. No matter how old your kids are the work of Shel Silverstein is fantastic. His poems take on different meanings for children, teenagers, and adults. Hopefully you can read this one together. With this being back to school time I figured it would be a perfect time to have a book the whole family can read. The benefits of fathers reading with their children has been well documented, and at any age it can be great to work into the family routine.

Here’s a preview to get you thinking:

She drank from a bottle called DRINK ME And she grew so tall, She ate from a plate called TASTE ME And down she shrank so small. And so she changed, while other folks Never tried nothin’ at all. – Where the Sidewalk Ends
